São Paulo FC faces financial debt disputes and player returns

São Paulo FC is navigating several institutional and financial challenges. The club is part of a group of Brazilian teams, including Santos and Botafogo, lobbying the CBF to extend the deadline for resolving historical debts under financial fair play rules. The group seeks to push the deadline for severe sanctions from November 2026 to 2028.

Financially, the club faces a potential transfer ban due to a debt of approximately R$ 10 million related to player Jhegson Méndez. The dispute involves unpaid economic rights owed to Seth Sports, which has obtained a favorable decision from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

On the pitch, manager Dorival Júnior confirmed the return of star player Lucas Moura from an Achilles tendon injury. The team is currently struggling with a period of poor results and internal issues, including delays in image rights payments.
