São Paulo fire destroys ten motorcycles and a car after power lines snap
A short circuit caused by the snapping of high-voltage power lines ignited a fire that destroyed ten motorcycles and one car in the Socorro region of southern São Paulo. The incident occurred on Rua Canes, where the falling cables landed on vehicles parked on the street, causing flames to spread rapidly within approximately ten minutes. The fire also damaged trees and a trash bin.
No injuries were reported. The Fire Department was dispatched to combat the blaze, and a forensic investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the cable failure, with results expected within 30 days.
Local residents reported that the electrical outage lasted approximately 14 hours following the incident. Enel, the electricity distribution company, stated that it is investigating the circumstances and will evaluate claims for compensation from the affected vehicle owners.
