São Paulo football clubs Guarani and Independente move toward SAF model

Several football clubs in the state of São Paulo are undergoing transitions to the Sociedade Anônima do Futebol (SAF) model.

Guarani is expected to be the tenth club in the region to adopt this structure, with businessman Roberto Graziano likely to assume control. Questions remain regarding the financial resources to be allocated to the club and how his management of Guarani will relate to his involvement with São Bernardo.

Independente has also moved toward a SAF model through a 10-year agreement with businessman Marcelo Pedroza. Under this contract, the SAF will hold a 90% stake in the club. As an initial contribution, Pedroza has provided a branded team bus for travel during the Campeonato Paulista Série A-4. Future plans for the partnership include stadium renovations, specifically improvements to the pitch.
