São Paulo government signs R$ 6 billion deal for new administrative center

The Government of São Paulo has formalized a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) contract to implement the new Campos Elíseos Administrative Center in the central region of the capital. The project, valued at approximately R$ 6 billion, involves a 30-year concession agreement with the Concessionária Novo Centro SP consortium.

The complex aims to unify roughly 22,000 public servants currently spread across 40 different locations into a single hub consisting of seven buildings and ten towers. This hub will house the governor's office, state secretariats, and other departments, while also including theaters, auditoriums, and social areas.

Urban revitalization is a key component of the project, which includes the restoration of 17 listed historical properties and a 40% increase in the green areas of Parque Princesa Isabel. The development also allocates 25,000 square meters for commercial and service activities.

While construction is expected to begin in earnest by 2027, the immediate next steps involve project planning and obtaining necessary licenses. The project has faced local debate regarding costs, the relocation of residents, and the displacement of existing infrastructure like the Terminal Princesa Isabel.
