São Paulo highway infrastructure projects advance
Infrastructure developments are underway on several highways in São Paulo state. Eixo SP Concessionária de Rodovias has released projections for the duplication of the SP-294 (Rodovia Comandante João Ribeiro de Barros) between Parapuã and Flórida Paulista. The project includes a new main access cloverleaf for Adamantina at km 592, featuring two roundabouts to organize traffic. Works at this site began on August 3, involving the establishment of construction sites and foundation preparation. The project also includes adjustments to the access point for the FAI University campus II.
Separately, Via Raposo Tavares (SP-270) has partnered with TIM to expand 4G cellular coverage along the highway. The project involves installing 15 new towers to serve regions currently lacking signal, including areas between Itapetinga and Ourinhos, and various transversal roads. This connectivity initiative is a requirement of the state government's concession agreement. The rollout is expected to be completed by August 18, 2027, though the concessionaire aims for earlier operation. This mobile network will complement a broader digitalization project that includes 285 km of fiber optics to support 300 connected cameras, smart sensors, and free-flow tolling systems.
