Campo Grande approves cultural heritage status for Anhanduí roadside stalls

The Campo Grande City Council has approved a project to designate the traditional roadside stalls along the BR-163 highway in the Anhanduí District as municipal cultural heritage. The project, authored by Councilman André Salineiro, aims to protect these stalls, which are recognized for their historical, social, and economic importance to the community.

The stalls are known for selling artisanal products, homemade sweets, preserves, and peppers produced by local families, representing a significant expression of popular culture and the local creative economy. The heritage designation is intended to preserve the essential characteristics of these sites without requiring property transfers or automatic compensation.

Under the new law, the municipality will promote cultural, touristic, and economic valorization of the stalls through public policies, training, and support for local workers. This legislative move follows concerns from merchants regarding the potential removal of the stalls due to upcoming highway duplication works on the BR-163.
