São Paulo Bienal do Livro attracts massive crowds at Distrito Anhembi

The 28th Bienal Internacional do Livro de São Paulo is currently underway at the Distrito Anhembi, running from September 4 to 13. Organized by the Câmara Brasileira do Livro, the event expects to host over 700,000 visitors and features 269 exhibitors.

Spain is the guest of honor for this edition, showcasing 50 Spanish writers and diverse cultural programming. The event has seen significant crowds, with sold-out tickets for the first weekend leading to heavy traffic, long queues, and crowded corridors. Notable international attendees include American romance author Lynn Painter and British creator Alice Oseman.

The programming highlights a wide range of genres, from psychological thrillers and fantasy to discussions on mental health and Black literature, supported by institutions like the Universidade Zumbi dos Palmares. New features include a cashback policy for ticket holders to encourage book purchases and a dedicated space for Brazilian comics.
