São Paulo judge orders reinstatement of group in public lighting tender

A judge in São Paulo has ordered the administration of Mayor Ricardo Nunes to immediately reinstate the Consórcio Walks into the bidding process for the city's public lighting. The ruling follows a determination that the removal of the business group from the competition was illegal.

The magistrate, Nathalia Christina Caputo Gomes, stated that the municipal administration had halted the progress of the competition for an “unreasonable” period, effectively preventing the fulfillment of definitive judicial decisions. The court ordered the city to prove within 15 days that measures have been taken to comply with the ruling.

While the current concession contract will be maintained temporarily, its scope will be restricted to public lighting maintenance services. The Nunes administration stated it is complying with judicial decisions and maintains that the current contract is regular, dismissing claims of irregularity as unfounded.
