São Paulo launches 25th State Coffee Quality Contest and hosts 2026 Coffee Festival

The São Paulo State Department of Agriculture and Supply (SAA‑SP) announced the opening of entries for the 25th Concurso Estadual Qualidade do Café, timed with the 59th anniversary of the CATI agency in Campinas. Producers can submit samples until 25 September for Arabica categories and 2 October for canephora, with the award ceremony slated for November. The contest aims to showcase and boost specialty coffee from regions such as Alta Mogiana, Mantiqueira Vulcânica and the Vale do Ribeira, offering a platform for small growers to reach demanding buyers.

From 26‑28 June, the São Paulo Coffee Festival 2026 took place at the Ibirapuera Bienal, featuring international exhibitors. Juan Valdez introduced its first‑time presence in Brazil with a limited‑edition Geisha coffee and highlighted female‑led Colombian farms. Japanese accessory maker ACAFEC displayed new abacá‑fiber filters and a single‑cup dripper designed for precise extraction. The event underscored the growing market for high‑quality, traceable coffee in Latin America.
