São Paulo launches international audiovisual exchanges and R$90 million cinema hall grant

The MiradaMundi_SP program, run by the Associação dos Profissionais do Audiovisual Negro (APAN) with Spcine, opened two new international calls for São Paulo audiovisual professionals. Up to eight participants will train in Luanda, Angola, from 15‑25 August 2026, while another cohort will study in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from 14‑29 September 2026. The initiative prioritises Black, Indigenous, trans, and disabled creators and aims to bring the total number of participants to 192 by November 2026. Tom Pinheiro, executive director of APAN, said, “More than offering scholarships and international experiences, MiradaMundi_SP creates concrete bridges between Brazilian professionals and other audiovisual territories.”

During the SP Audiovisual HUB 2026, the São Paulo state government announced a new ProAC funding line dedicated to cinema halls, allocating R$90 million in two modules for street‑based and itinerant theatres. The measure seeks to strengthen film exhibition, broaden public access to national productions, and sustain cultural spaces across the state. Culture secretary Marília Marton remarked, “We are finally addressing a historic demand of the audiovisual sector with direct support to cinema halls.” The package also includes grants for feature‑film production, video‑games, design, festivals and other creative projects.
