São Paulo launches 'Jornada do Patrimônio 2026' railway heritage program across 95 municipalities
The São Paulo State Secretariat of Culture, Economy and Creative Industries is running the Jornada do Patrimônio 2026 heritage program throughout August. The initiative, themed “Nosso patrimônio é uma viagem!”, features 254 activities in 95 municipalities, aiming to link younger generations with the state’s railway legacy.
A centerpiece is the audiovisual exhibition “Trilhos que contam o Brasil”, created by Canal Futura and Instituto Rumo with 30 university students producing six mini‑documentaries. The launch took place on 7 August at the Museu da Imagem e do Som (MIS) in the capital, after which the films will be shown free of charge at 127 MIS points statewide. Additional events include museum screenings and a historical lecture on the Estrada de Ferro Araraquarense at the Museu Ferroviário de São José do Rio Preto, as well as guided tours at the Museu da Língua Portuguesa and other cultural sites.
