São Paulo launches Libras service for deaf voters

In São Paulo, a Libras (Brazilian Sign Language) service has been launched to assist deaf or hearing-impaired voters during the 2026 elections. The service provides real-time video calls with interpreters to help citizens obtain voting information.

In the capital, the Regional Electoral Court of São Paulo (TRE-SP) offers this service through a partnership with the Municipal Secretariat for Persons with Disabilities via a dedicated website and app. In the state's interior, the service is available through the ‘São Paulo São Libras’ program via the Poupatempo website or app.

The service operates 24 hours a day and will remain available until October 30. On election days, access can also be facilitated through QR codes posted at polling stations. Additionally, the ‘Seu Voto Importa’ initiative provides free individual transportation for people with disabilities or reduced mobility to ensure access to voting locations.
