São Paulo Lieutenant Colonel denies killing former partner
Geraldo Leite Rosa Neto, a 53-year-old Lieutenant Colonel of the São Paulo Military Police, has denied allegations of murdering his former partner, Gisele Alves Santana, during an eight-hour judicial interrogation. Neto maintains that the 32-year-old soldier committed suicide, a claim that contradicts three forensic reports and a recent supplementary document stating it would be impossible for the victim to have shot herself in the head.
The incident occurred on February 18 in an apartment in the Barra Funda district of São Paulo. Investigators have noted several discrepancies between Neto's testimony and the evidence collected at the scene. While Neto claimed that investigators moved a Christmas tree to incriminate him, body camera footage and firefighter testimony confirmed the object remained intact. Additionally, forensic findings and witness accounts regarding the position of the weapon and the lack of water near the bathroom contradict Neto's claim that he had just finished showering before discovering the body.
