Businessman wanted for 39-year-old homicide identified in Paraguay
A 68-year-old businessman, wanted for a qualified homicide committed 39 years ago in São Manuel, Brazil, has been identified in Paraguay. The man had been living in Paraguay using a false identity.
The discovery occurred following a traffic dispute in Assunção, where the man was filmed pointing a handgun at a truck driver. Paraguayan authorities located him at a residence in Lambaré, where two pistols were seized.
Interpol assisted in identifying his true identity as Luciano Pampado Casquel. While he was released by the Paraguayan Public Ministry after testifying regarding the traffic incident, the Brazilian Civil Police have initiated procedures to transfer him to Brazil to serve his sentence, which was recently adjusted to 14 years of imprisonment.
