São Paulo Metro expands Pix payments to self-service machines

The São Paulo Metro has begun accepting Pix as a payment method at self-service ticket machines. The rollout started on Tuesday (20) exclusively for Line 1-Blue, with a scheduled expansion to other lines through the end of October.

The implementation calendar for the automated terminals is as follows: Line 2-Green from October 23 to 26, Line 3-Red on October 27 and 28, and Line 15-Silver on October 29 and 30. This update complements existing payment options, which include credit and debit cards, the TOP and Bilhete Único cards, mobile apps, WhatsApp, and contactless payments at turnstiles.

Additionally, the Metro is phasing out the magnetic Edmondson ticket. Passengers have until October 31 to use these traditional tickets; after this date, the Metro will provide exchange stations for commuters.
