São Paulo Metro liabilities reach R$ 4.04 billion in 2025

The total liabilities of the São Paulo Metro reached R$ 4.04 billion by December 31, 2025, representing a 28.2% increase from the R$ 3.15 billion recorded at the end of 2024.

These obligations include debts to suppliers, labor charges, taxes, judicial provisions, customer advances, and debentures. Notably, judicial provisions accounted for approximately R$ 1.703 billion as of March 2026, comprising about 43% of the liabilities for that quarter. Other significant figures include R$ 608 million in supplier obligations and R$ 842.8 million in customer advances.

While financial debt linked to debentures decreased from R$ 404.9 million in late 2022 to R$ 150.3 million in December 2025, the overall total liability has trended upward. The Metro relies on funding from the São Paulo state government to support network expansion and operations. Moody’s Local Brasil reported that the state provided approximately R$ 4.8 billion in investments to the company in 2025, primarily targeting several new lines including Lines 2-Green, 15-Silver, 17-Gold, 19-Celeste, 20-Pink, and 22-Brown.
