São Paulo metro Linha 4-Amarela disrupted by power failure

A power failure on the Linha 4-Amarela metro line in São Paulo caused significant disruptions on Wednesday morning. The incident began around 7:00 a.m., primarily affecting the section between the Paulista and República stations.

During the outage, passengers were trapped in dark train cars. Some commuters used emergency buttons to disembark and walked through tunnels, utilizing emergency walkways between the Higienópolis-Mackenzie and Paulista stations. The disruption led to severe overcrowding at various stations, including Pinheiros and Luz.

The concessionaire responsible for the line, Motiva, stated that train circulation was temporarily suspended to ensure passenger safety while clearing the tracks. Emergency bus services were deployed to assist commuters. Operations were reported to have normalized by approximately 8:15 a.m.
