São Paulo Metro receives final train for Line 17-Gold
The São Paulo Metro has received the final train unit for Line 17-Gold, completing the fleet of 14 compositions manufactured by BYD Skyrail in China. The N14 unit arrived at the Água Espraiada Yard following road transport from the Port of Santos via five specialized trucks.
The new compositions consist of five cars each, capable of carrying up to 616 passengers. The fleet features Unattended Train Operation (UTO) technology for fully automated service, air conditioning, LED lighting, and emergency batteries that allow the trains to travel up to 8 kilometers during power outages.
Before entering commercial service, the units will undergo assembly, static testing, and dynamic testing to obtain necessary safety certifications. Line 17-Gold, which opened in March 2026, spans 6.7 kilometers with eight stations connecting Morumbi to Congonhas Airport.
