São Paulo Metro reveals plans for high-demand Linha 23-Limão
The São Paulo Metro has presented details regarding the future Linha 23-Limão, a metropolitan perimeter connection designed to link lines north of the Tietê River. The project aims to facilitate shorter periphery-to-periphery trips, allowing passengers to bypass the city center.
The planned line will span 32.5 km with 27 stations, connecting with 12 other lines in the metro-rail system. It is expected to serve a daily demand of approximately 1.36 million passengers, placing its usage levels on par with the highly utilized Line 1-Blue and Line 3-Red. The route will connect several key regions, including Osasco, Pirituba, Santana, and Tatuapé.
Beyond improving mobility, the project is estimated to provide social benefits valued at R$ 4.8 billion in 2024 currency. The line is intended to overcome urban barriers and improve access to currently difficult-to-reach areas such as Vila Jaraguá and northern Osasco, while being designed to avoid overloading the existing network.
