São Paulo sidelines Cauly due to anti-doping precautions

São Paulo FC has sidelined midfielder Cauly as a precautionary measure following his use of medication containing a substance prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). The player used the medication to treat a nasal condition after suffering from a severe bout of influenza.

The club clarified that there has been no positive doping test or disciplinary sanction. Instead, the decision to exclude him from recent matches, including the upcoming game against Vasco, is a preventive step to ensure the substance has fully cleared his system. Cauly reportedly acted proactively by informing the club's department as soon as he realized the medication contained a banned component.

São Paulo is currently in communication with the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) to determine the necessary timeframe for the player to safely return to competition in compliance with regulatory standards.
