São Paulo orchestras to perform rock and pop culture concerts
Major orchestras in São Paulo are hosting special concerts that blend classical music with rock and pop culture.
On October 10, the Brasil Jazz Sinfônica will perform ‘Cordas no Rock’ at Blue Note São Paulo. Conducted by Gustavo Petri, the 70-piece ensemble will perform arrangements of hits by Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Guns N’ Roses, and Nirvana using only string instruments, omitting electric guitars, drums, and keyboards.
On October 11, the Orquestra Jovem do Estado will perform at Sala São Paulo under the direction of Cláudio Cruz. The program focuses on cinematic soundtracks from John Williams, video game themes such as ‘The Legend of Zelda’ and ‘Final Fantasy VII’, and anime scores including ‘Naruto’ and ‘Dragon Ball’.
