São Paulo Police launch Operação Ouro Reverso against jewelry laundering ring

The São Paulo Civil Police, through the State Department of Criminal Investigations (Deic), launched the third phase of Operação Ouro Reverso to dismantle a criminal organization specializing in the theft, receipt, and illegal trade of gold and jewelry.

Authorities have secured a court order to freeze over R$ 374 million in assets and financial holdings belonging to the suspects. The operation involves 31 search and seizure warrants, the closure of a jewelry store in central São Paulo, and the seizure of a property. Investigators identified a financial core that utilized shell companies and successive transfers to launder money, with one investigated company reportedly moving more than R$ 350 million.

Police identified Denis Alves Campos dos Santos as a central figure and an active member of the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC). He is alleged to facilitate the connection between stolen jewelry and the criminal group's financial operations. The investigation, which began in 2024 following the scrutiny of a R$ 2 million necklace gifted to footballer Neymar, has previously targeted key negotiators and operational hubs in earlier phases.
