Brazilian police seize multi‑ton cocaine and marijuana shipments in July 2026
In July 2026 Brazilian law‑enforcement agencies conducted a series of large‑scale drug busts across multiple states. The Santa Catarina Military Police and Federal Highway Police seized about 3.5 tonnes of cocaine in residences in Navegantes and Blumenau. In Mato Grosso do Sul, the Integrated Crime‑Combat Force (FICCO/MS) confiscated more than one tonne of marijuana from a couple’s house in Campo Grande. The Minas Gerais Civil Police and Federal Highway Police intercepted roughly 200 kg of marijuana, hashish and ice destined for Muriaé. In Paraná, joint Federal and Military police operations in Foz do Iguaçu captured about 180 kg of marijuana from an abandoned river craft. The Rio de Janeiro Military Police raided a Niterói neighborhood, detaining seven suspects and seizing crack, cocaine, weapons and cash. In addition, a police raid in Santa Catarina’s Irani uncovered a cargo of Paraguayan cigarettes and Argentine wines valued at over R$ 2 million.
Separate incidents outside Brazil were also reported. Dominican authorities seized 237 packages of presumed cocaine in Santo Domingo, arresting three men and seizing weapons, cash and vehicles. Argentine anti‑narcotics units raided homes in Neuquén province, confiscating more than 300 doses of cocaine, cash, a vehicle and equipment used for drug processing.
