Flávio Bolsonaro convoy bomb threat investigated after TV Bandeirantes debate

Following a presidential debate between Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Flávio Bolsonaro at the TV Bandeirantes studios in São Paulo, security forces investigated a suspected bomb threat involving a vehicle in the candidate's convoy.

The Special Tactical Actions Group (GATE) was deployed after receiving intelligence from the Senate Federal Police. While police sniffing dogs initially signaled the presence of chemical components that could be used to manufacture explosives, a thorough investigation determined the threat was a false alarm. Authorities stated that volatilized chemical substances, potentially including ammonia or components related to airbag deployment, had misled the dogs.

During the security operation, the area around the studios was isolated, and journalists were prevented from leaving until the site was cleared. Both presidential candidates managed to leave the premises safely before the full lockdown was implemented.
