São Paulo police indict suspects in robbery of former SPFC director

Police in São Paulo have indicted two men suspected of involvement in the robbery of Marco Aurélio Cunha, a physician and former director of São Paulo Futebol Clube. The incident occurred on August 12 near the Clínicas metro station on Avenida Doutor Arnaldo.

According to reports, the suspects used a “window-smashing” technique to steal Cunha’s cellphone from his taxi. While attempting to pursue the suspects, Cunha fell on the metro station stairs, resulting in severe injuries including five fractured ribs, a head wound, and a small pneumothorax. He was admitted to the intensive care unit at Samaritano Hospital, where he underwent surgeries to have plates inserted into his chest.

One suspect was arrested in flagrante after being found with two stolen phones, while the second was indicted and released to await trial. Authorities are continuing their investigation to locate the stolen cellphone and identify potential receivers of the stolen property.
