São Paulo police investigate pregnant woman for attempted murder
A six-month pregnant woman is under investigation by the São Paulo Civil Police for the attempted qualified murder of her 23-year-old husband in the Itaim Paulista neighborhood. The incident occurred on the night of Sunday, August 23, when the suspect allegedly poured a pot of hot oil over her husband while he was sleeping.
Following the attack, the woman reportedly turned off the lights, locked the victim in the bedroom, and fled the residence with two daughters from a previous relationship. Witnesses stated that as she left, she told one of the victim's brothers, “Go see what I did to your brother.”
The victim sustained severe burns to approximately 38% of his body, particularly on his face. He is currently intubated and in serious condition at the Hospital Municipal do Tatuapé.
While the case was initially registered as bodily injury, authorities have reclassified it to attempted qualified murder based on witness testimony. The couple had been in a relationship for approximately nine months and reportedly had a history of frequent arguments. In a telephone conversation with the victim's relatives, the suspect claimed she acted in self-defense. Police are investigating whether there were prior threats or aggressions from the husband.
