Praia Grande police rescue 10-year-old girl from father

The Military Police of São Paulo rescued a 10-year-old girl in Praia Grande after she was held in false imprisonment by her father for 18 days. The child was located during a patrol in the Guilhermina neighborhood, where officers noticed the man walking with the girl under heavy rain. The girl reportedly signaled for help by blinking at an officer during the approach.

The suspect, identified as Wellington Ferreira da Silva, was arrested in flagrante after attempting to flee on foot toward the coast. Investigations revealed that the incident began on September 20 in Barueri, where the man allegedly threatened his ex-partner with a firearm, drugged her, and fled with the child and her documents.

The girl was taken to a medical emergency unit for evaluation and is under the care of the Guardianship Council until she can be reunited with her mother. The suspect faces charges of kidnapping and false imprisonment.
