São Paulo promotes free sports via events and municipal centers

The city of São Paulo is expanding access to physical activities through both specific events and permanent municipal infrastructure. The Sports Island event is scheduled to take place on September 19 and 20, 2026, at Parque CERET in the Tatuapé neighborhood. Promoted by the Municipal Secretariat of Sports and Leisure, this free interactive event aims to combine sports with theme-park-style exploration, featuring themed areas such as the 'Vila Encantada' for children and a skate arena known as 'Point das Manobras'.

In addition to special events, São Paulo maintains over 40 municipal Sports Centers (CEs) across various regions. These facilities offer free classes for all ages in disciplines including swimming, volleyball, futsal, yoga, pilates, and martial arts. Residents can access these services by obtaining a membership card directly at their chosen sports center. Programs are distributed across the city's zones, providing localized options for fitness and social interaction.
