São Paulo regulators close supermarket and seal fuel pumps after safety violations

Police in the São Paulo municipality of Itapecerica da Serra conducted an operation after receiving complaints about expired foods. Inspectors found numerous sanitary breaches, including out‑of‑date products, improper storage of raw meat alongside fresh produce, and cross‑contamination risks in the bakery and dairy sections. The store manager was taken to the police station, the tainted items were discarded, and the establishment was given a deadline to correct the violations.

The São Paulo Institute of Weights and Measures (Ipem‑SP) carried out a routine inspection of a fuel station in Araçatuba following a consumer tip. All ten fuel pumps were found to under‑measure by about 1.6 liters per 20 liters dispensed, meaning customers were overcharged. The pumps were sealed, ten infringement notices were issued and the station now faces administrative penalties under state metrology law.
