São Paulo rejects signing of striker Jamie Vardy

São Paulo FC has reportedly decided not to proceed with the signing of 39-year-old English striker Jamie Vardy. The club's management reached this conclusion following a financial analysis, determining that the player's salary demands were unsustainable given the club's current debt and budgetary constraints.

While Vardy's experience was seen as a potential asset for competitions such as the Campeonato Brasileiro and the Copa Sudamericana, the investment was deemed too high a risk. The decision also follows internal debate within the club's leadership regarding the necessity of the signing, especially with other attacking options like Calleri, André Silva, and Ryan Francisco available.

Vardy, a former Premier League winner with Leicester City, most recently played for Cremonese in Italy, where he recorded seven goals in 29 matches. Despite interest from the Brazilian side, West Ham United has also emerged as a competitor for the free agent as they look to strengthen their squad.
