São Paulo sets July 31 deadline for vehicle licensing of plates ending 1‑2

The São Paulo State Department of Transit (Detran‑SP) has announced that owners of vehicles with license plates ending in 1 or 2 must complete the annual licensing process by 31 July. The deadline follows a schedule that began on 1 July and requires payment of all outstanding taxes, including IPVA and any fines, before the vehicle can be legally driven.

Detran‑SP has also introduced an automated digital system for issuing the electronic Certificate of Registration and Licensing (CRLV‑e). Once payments are confirmed by partner banks, the system instantly updates the vehicle’s status and makes the digital document available, eliminating the need for physical paperwork. Driving with an expired licence is a serious infraction that can lead to fines, demerit points on the driver’s licence, and possible vehicle impoundment.
