São Paulo showcases upscale home makeover and iconic Penthouse building

In Moema, São Paulo, a 1950s 450 m² house was completely renovated by Studio Carlito and architect Renata Pascucci. The redesign preserved the original structure while adding a tropical garden, an indoor pool, large sliding doors and integrated living‑dining‑kitchen spaces, creating an urban refuge that blends contemporary materials such as corten steel, freijó wood and exposed concrete.

Adolpho Lindenberg, president of the Lindenberg construction group, reflected on the historic Penthouse building in Morumbi. Erected in 1979, the tower was famous for its private balcony pools and for a 2004 aerial photograph that showed the contrast between the luxury balconies and the nearby Paraisópolis favela—a picture that appeared in geography textbooks. Lindenberg said, “Não, hoje não mais. Se me convidarem pra construir no Morumbi, eu passo, obrigado,” indicating he will not pursue new projects in the area despite a recent 21 % rise in luxury‑property prices.
