São Paulo Metro conducts emergency drills on Line 17-Ouro
The São Paulo Metro and the Fire Department are conducting a series of emergency and rescue drills on Line 17-Ouro scheduled for September 22, 25, and 28. These exercises aim to integrate emergency teams, reinforce safety protocols, and improve response procedures for critical operational scenarios.
On September 22, drills near Morumbi Station will focus on passenger evacuation via emergency walkways, testing communication and team integration. On September 25 and 28, training will shift to high-altitude rescue techniques, including rappelling and the use of fire department ladder trucks, primarily near Washington Luís Station and the Água Espraiada Yard.
In other transit updates, ViaMobilidade has completed the modernization of two elevators at Largo Treze Station on Line 5-Lilás to improve accessibility, with the remaining two expected by December. Additionally, maintenance is underway on Lines 8-Diamante and 9-Esmeralda, while construction for the future Boa Esperança Station on Line 15-Prata has necessitated overnight road closures on Avenida Ragueb Chohfi.
On the roads, crews in Cruzeiro are preparing to remove a bus involved in a recent accident in the Serra da Mantiqueira, and a truck rollover on the Rodovia do Açúcar in Piracicaba has caused traffic delays.
