São Paulo transport projects face long delays

Road users on the João Leme dos Santos highway, a key link between Votorantim and Sorocaba, report inadequate lighting, poor signage and frequent congestion. The concessionaire CCR Sorocabana says major upgrades will not begin until 2030, leaving motorists and residents concerned about safety.

Meanwhile, the extension of the Metro Line 15‑Prata to Cidade Tiradentes remains on hold. Governor Tarcísio de Freitas explained that the next phase requires complex land‑expropriation and a new contract, with the current construction segment expected to finish by 2028. The delay also affects the future Line 16‑Violeta, which plans to serve the same eastern São Paulo area.
