São Paulo vehicle fleet aging increases maintenance needs

In the state of São Paulo, Brazil, 72.50% of registered vehicles are more than ten years old, according to data from Detran-SP. This aging fleet is driven by rising new vehicle prices, high financing interest rates, and the increasing value of pre-owned cars.

Experts note that older vehicles require more frequent preventive maintenance due to the natural wear of components. Key areas of concern include suspension systems, braking systems, oil changes, and electronic injection systems. Mechanical workshops in regions like Sorocaba report that a significant portion of their clients are operating older models, necessitating regular inspections every six months or ten thousand kilometers to ensure safety and reliability.
