Brazil weather: Heat waves in Amazonas and cold fronts in São Paulo
Various regions in Brazil are experiencing significant meteorological shifts, including heat waves, cold fronts, and unstable weather patterns.
In Amazonas, the Civil Defense issued a moderate heat wave alert for Manaus and ten other municipalities, including Presidente Figueiredo and Itacoatiara. The alert, valid until Sunday, warns of temperatures persistently above seasonal norms and advises the population to stay hydrated and avoid outdoor activities during peak heat.
In São Paulo, a cold front is moving through the state. While the day may begin with sun and warmth reaching up to 28°C, instability is expected to increase by the afternoon and evening. The National Institute of Meteorology (INMET) issued a yellow warning for potential storms in the center-south of the state. Rainfall is expected to be more intense in the western, southwestern, and southern regions, as well as the coast.
In Lages, weather conditions remain unstable with high humidity and expected rainfall, prompting Civil Defense to advise residents to avoid high-risk areas prone to flooding or landslides.
