São Paulo's Contra. Cena Festival Bans Cell Phone Recording

The independent music Festival Contra. Cena will take place on 16 October at Casa Rockambole in the Pinheiros district of São Paulo. Attendees must have the lenses of their mobile‑phone cameras covered with stickers at the entrance, preventing any photo or video recording during the shows. The organizers will also provide returnable analog cameras for those who wish to capture the event in a physical format.

The festival, conceived by producer Ray Sanchez, aims to foster a fully present audience, echoing a spontaneous atmosphere created during a previous video‑clip shoot where phones were not allowed. Confirmed acts include the bands Morro Fuji, Sislop, Celacanto and others from Brazil’s independent scene. The concept follows a growing trend among artists worldwide who use sealed bags or similar measures to keep phones away from the stage.

Tickets range from R$ 30 to R$ 70 and are sold through Meaple. The event runs from 21:00 to 03:00, offering a rare phone‑free concert experience in Brazil.
