São Paulo’s Ecofalante Film Festival awards “Arquivo Vivo” and “Mounir” as top documentaries

The 15th Mostra Ecofalante de Cinema concluded on 7 June at the Reserva Cultural in São Paulo, Brazil. The competition’s main prize, Best Long‑Feature in the Territórios e Memória section, was shared by Vincent Carelli’s documentary “Arquivo Vivo” and Julian Borges’s “Mounir”, marking a historic tie.

The jury – actress‑director Djin Sganzerla, curator‑filmmaker Lorran Dias and sound‑designer Tide Borges – also gave an Honorable Mention to Eliza Capai’s “A Fabulosa Máquina do Tempo”, which additionally won the audience award. In the short‑film category, “A Pele do Ouro” (directed by Marcela Ulhoa and Yare Perdomo) received Best Short, while “O Mapa em Que Estão Meus Pés” earned an Honorable Mention. The public prize for shorts went to the international co‑production “Replikka”, created by Brazilian, U.S. and U.K. filmmakers. Student short “Um Pé de Caju” took the Best Student Film award.

The festival, described as the leading South‑American audiovisual event on socio‑environmental issues, ran from 28 May to 10 June across multiple cultural venues and offered free public access and streaming options.
