Soacha housing upgrades and Dominican Republic infrastructure audits

In Soacha, a housing improvement initiative is providing upgrades to 100 vulnerable families. With an investment of $3,258 million, the program addresses essential needs such as repairing bathrooms, kitchens, floors, and bedrooms. The project aims to improve daily living conditions for residents facing issues like leaks and lack of running water. The initiative, which began in June 2026, offers subsidies of up to 18 minimum wages per household and covers nine different sectors within the municipality.

In the Dominican Republic, the Comptroller General of the Republic (CGR) reported that it has audited 77 government infrastructure projects so far in 2026. Comptroller Geraldo Espinosa Pérez stated that the agency plans to conduct 20 more technical interventions in the final quarter of the year, aiming to exceed its annual fiscalization goals. These audits, conducted by the CGR's Department of Engineering and Architecture, cover various sectors including roads, bridges, schools, hospitals, and water treatment plants managed by entities such as the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) and the Ministry of Education (MINERD).
