Soacha inaugurates new school kitchen to expand meal program
The municipality of Soacha has inaugurated a new kitchen and dining hall at the Benedicto XVI Educational Institution. The project required an investment of $436.5 million and is designed to provide fresh, locally prepared meals to 1,650 students.
This initiative is part of an expansion of the School Feeding Program (PAE) in the region. According to local administration data, the coverage of meals prepared directly on-site has increased from 20% in 2023 to 58% in 2026. Currently, more than 40,000 students benefit from this on-site preparation modality. The municipal government has set a target to reach 80% coverage for on-site prepared meals by 2027 to improve student nutrition, school retention, and academic performance.
