SOCADEL seeks 200 billion FCFA via local bank syndicate
The Société Camerounaise d’Électricité (SOCADEL) has signed a mandate to structure and syndicate a global facility targeting 200 billion FCFA through local banking institutions. The agreement, signed in Yaoundé on August 31, 2026, aims to strengthen the company's cash flow and support its financial and operational recovery plan.
The financing structure consists of two syndicated lines: a 50 billion FCFA revolving credit to cover current cash requirements and operational liquidity, and a 150 billion FCFA medium-term credit intended to refinance existing bank and supplier debts to alleviate short-term obligations.
General Bank of Cameroon (formerly Société Générale Cameroun) is acting as the arranger and lead manager, with Afriland First Bank and BGFIBank Cameroun serving as co-arrangers. The availability of funds remains subject to credit authorizations, the finalization of contractual documentation, and the satisfaction of standard conditions.
