SoCalGas introduces new uniforms to improve worker identification

Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas) has announced the introduction of updated employee uniforms designed to assist customers in identifying workers at residential and business locations. The new attire features prominent company branding and embroidered first names on shirts and coveralls. A notable visual change includes a transition from the company’s traditional blue uniforms to gray.

The new uniforms are constructed from lightweight, flame-resistant materials to provide enhanced protection and mobility for field employees performing inspections, maintenance, construction, and emergency response. The update follows employee feedback and an evaluation of operational needs, also including expanded sizing and improved garment fits.

To ensure security, officials noted that employees carry company-issued photo identification badges and operate marked vehicles. Customers are encouraged to ask for identification if they have questions regarding a worker’s affiliation. The rollout will be phased throughout the company’s service territory, which serves over 21 million consumers across Central and Southern California, beginning this month.
