Socca World Cup Returns to Essen with 48 Nations

From 28 August to 5 September 2023, Essen will host the Socca World Cup, the global tournament for six‑a‑side football, on the city’s Kennedy Platz. The competition features 48 national teams divided into twelve groups, with matches played in two 20‑minute halves. Organiser Richard Röhrhoff highlighted the unique urban setting, noting that the venue attracted over 130,000 spectators during the previous edition.

Ticket prices are set at €10, and the event will be followed by DFB‑run inclusion days from 10 to 13 September. The tournament brings together teams from Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa and Oceania, underscoring its international reach while remaining centred in Germany.
