Soccer drama ‘Forza’ to be showcased at Tokyo film market

Marco Balsamo’s debut feature film, ‘Forza’, has been acquired by EST N8 for international sales. The soccer-themed drama will be presented at the Tokyo International Film Festival’s TIFFCOM market from October 28 to 30.

Set against locations in Bali and Milan, the film follows Bima, an 11-year-old boy from Bali striving for a professional football career to improve his family's life. The narrative explores a bond between the boy and a former AC Milan player, played by club legend Alessandro Costacurta. The cast also includes newcomer Ghazi Alhabsyi, Tara Sibel Demren, Atiqah Hasiholan, Oka Antara, and Tio Pakusadewo.

Before its appearance in Tokyo, ‘Forza’ will have its first public screening on October 25 during Jakarta Film Week. Tickets for the Jakarta screening reportedly sold out within five minutes. The project was originated by Riva Studios, with Adhya Pictures slated for the film’s Indonesian theatrical release in 2027.
