Soccer interest in the United States evolves amid structural changes

The landscape of soccer in the United States is undergoing structural shifts following the recent World Cup. While the 1994 World Cup did not immediately establish a league capable of competing with Europe, recent years have seen sustained growth driven by high-profile figures like Lionel Messi at Inter Miami.

Domestic league structures are also evolving. The USL is set to implement a three-tier system including a promotion and relegation model, a first for the country. Additionally, Major League Soccer (MLS) plans to adjust its calendar to align with the European season, moving from a spring start to an autumn-to-spring schedule.

In terms of international viewership, there is a significant focus on star players such as Lamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappé, and Vinícius Júnior, which has bolstered interest in LaLiga. While the Premier League remains firmly established in the U.S. market, LaLiga is seeing rapid growth.
