Social agriculture and labor exploitation discussed at Rimini Meeting
At the Rimini Meeting, representatives from Confagricoltura Emilia-Romagna discussed the role of social agriculture as a tool for inclusion, integration, and legality. The roundtable, organized by the Young Farmers of Confagricoltura Emilia-Romagna, highlighted how the primary sector can provide skills to vulnerable individuals and create regular employment opportunities.
Dario Bernardi, the Mayor of Portomaggiore, presented the Agribus project, a dedicated transport service for agricultural workers designed to combat 'caporalato' (illegal labor brokerage) and exploitation. By facilitating the connection between labor supply and demand, the service aims to prevent the degradation often associated with unregulated migrant labor. The Agribus initiative recently received the IoMobility Award in Milan.
Other initiatives discussed included the 'Orto dell’Inclusione' (Inclusion Garden), a project involving students with disabilities, emphasizing the potential for agricultural enterprises to serve as social and territorial safeguards.
