Data from the Ministry of Social Security and the INSS indicate a 493% increase in exhaustion-related registrations between 2021 and 2024. In a separate sociological observation, specialist Eliane Gonçalves notes a growing trend among women prioritizing friendships and community networks over romantic relationships. This shift is described as a collective survival mechanism in response to precarious labor conditions, the invisible burden of care work, and social isolation. Gonçalves argues that while women have gained access to education and paid employment, the lack of state or social support for domestic and caregiving responsibilities has led to multiple layers of exhaustion.
