Social and security crises reported in Uruguay and Colombia

In Uruguay, Deputy Gustavo Salle of Identidad Soberana has issued strong criticisms regarding the institutional situation in the Colonia department. He highlighted the penetration of organized crime and drug trafficking, alleging a lack of state transparency and potential complicity within the political and financial systems. Salle noted that areas like Juan Lacase, once industrial hubs, are now struggling with unemployment and crime, while large-scale real estate projects raise concerns regarding national integrity.

In Colombia, reports from the Defensoría del Pueblo and the Instituto Nacional de Medicina Legal reveal a critical situation for minors. During the first half of the year, 1,026 girls and adolescents were reported missing, accounting for 65.9% of all minor disappearances in the country. Additionally, 6,276 medical-legal examinations were conducted for alleged sexual crimes against minors, with the vast majority involving girls and adolescent females. The data underscores significant challenges regarding sexual violence and the protection of rights for young women in both urban and rural settings.
