SDP unveils 2027–2031 policy blueprint in Abuja

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has unveiled its 2027–2031 policy blueprint, titled ‘Farewell to Poverty and Insecurity: Governance & Accelerated Development – Blueprint of a New Nigeria’, in Abuja. Presented by presidential candidate Prince Adewole Adebayo, the document outlines a roadmap focused on security, economic productivity, and social welfare.

Key energy proposals include increasing electricity generation to 75,000 megawatts and installing between 11 and 15 kilowatts of solar power on every Nigerian roof within 11 months of taking office. Adebayo also pledged to establish four major public refineries and 36 modular refineries to stabilize the downstream sector. Regarding fuel costs, he proposed a petrol price of approximately 200 naira per litre, arguing that citizens should not pay international prices while earning local wages.

National Chairman Professor Sadiq Gombe stated the plan is built on three pillars: security, productivity, and prosperity. The security agenda aims to combat terrorism, kidnapping, and illegal mining by dismantling the economic networks that sustain criminality. Adebayo emphasized that a four-year term is sufficient for a determined administration to achieve structural change, citing historical regional governance successes as a precedent.
