Social development and income inequality reports released in Brazil
Recent data from Brazilian institutions highlight varying levels of social development and economic equality across different regions.
In the municipality of Patrocínio, the Fundação João Pinheiro (FJP) released the 2024 Minas Gerais Social Responsibility Index (IMRS). The index, which evaluates education, health, public safety, social vulnerability, sanitation, housing, and the environment, placed Patrocínio at 0.389. While the municipality has shown slight progress compared to its lowest points in 2019 and 2020, its overall score is categorized as intermediate to low.
On a state level, the Center for Public Leadership (CLP) published its annual State Competitiveness Ranking. The report indicates that Acre ranks 9th among Brazilian states for having the lowest income inequality. This metric, part of the Social Sustainability pillar, utilizes the IBGE Gini Index to measure income distribution. Governor Mailza Assis attributed this result to economic development efforts focused on social inclusion and private sector partnerships.
